Martin Wagner appears to be finishing Hepcats as webcomic.
This makes me happy, if a little suspicious. I really, really, really hope he finishes the story, but I can't bring myself to hold my breath. I've been waiting for new material since 1994. And don't give me that "Issue zero" routine. Own it. Don't care. Want issue thirteen, dammit.
I still have my homemade Hepcats fangirl teeshirt and my Li'l Joey and Gunther 5 x 7" sketch card. Behold my nerdliness.
I'll be DAMNED. Really? Now I need to go back and re-read the whole thing so I can remember just what exactly the heck was going on when Martin Wagner fell into a hole in the ground and vanished.
You know, though, I hate to say it but as much as I love webcomics as a format, some comics are not really that well suited for it and I can't help thinking Hepcats is one of those comics -- because of the gorgeous line art. So much of my liking for that comic is tied up in the stunning art. I'm not saying it won't be entirely readable as a webcomic, but it won't be the full experience. If he does go ahead and complete it, I hope he'll collect it into a trade as well. POD if nothing else.
