So, I'm doing this series of interview columns on self-publishing for The PULSE, and rather than interview myself, I asked my fellow interviewees to send me questions. I have three so far, but I'd like five, so that I'm all balanced out with the other interviewees.
I'm representing "Self-publishers who've printed single issues." Other contributors include Layla Lawlor (POD), Spike (Webcomics), Pam Bliss (Minicomics) and Jim Ottaviani (Straight to GN). If you've ever wanted to ask me a self-publishing question, with an emphasis on single-issues, fire away. If it's not too close to those I already have, I'll include it in the interview.

I didn't think the May PREVIEWS would be available till next week, but Paul brought it home today with his weekly pull.
It's on the same page with American Born Chinese from First Second. Talk about good company.
And in case you missed it elsewhere, here's another link to the 24-page preview on Comicon.com's PULSE.
Gentle readers,
At long, long last, I finally have a preview for you. You can find it here:
http://www.comicon.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=006214;p=0
After I get a few more things nailed down (like, for instance, the columns mentioned in the preview) I'll post it here on this website in JPG format and also as one big PDF so that you can download it.
Here, also, is the long-awaited ordering info:
168 pages, $12.95
ISBN-10: 0974311014
ISBN-13: 978-0974311012

The May PREVIEWS hits stores in two weeks, and the books should arrive sometime in early July.
Also -- I couldn't afford to do a proper FCBD comic, but paper copies of this preview will also be available at a select few comic stores. I'm gunning to have them arrive in time for FCBD -- but if they don't make it, they'll still be available at the following stores, the week after:

Good grief, this is really happening!
I had a really nice weekend. Got the backyard spruced up, went to the hardware store and got supplies, added a new soaker hose, filled up the fountain and added five feeder goldfish, all but one of which are dead now. The goldfish death tank rides again. I'll be going to our local pond-n-garden place to try and figure that out. Once the book is done, though, that is.
Other than that, life's good. The tulips and daffs are out in full force, the cherry tree's blossoming (cherries! whee!) and the hostas and ferns are pushing their way up. Hooray for spring!
EDITED TO ADD: Woo! Three fish survived. We saw them this evening as we were giving the grill its inaugural run.
I'm just now getting to the half-way point in the audiobook of Storm of Swords, the third book in the Song of Ice and Fire series. For those of you who've read it, you'll know why I started yelling so loudly and in such agony that both dog and husband came bolting upstairs to check on my mortal safety.
Damn you, George R. R. Martin. I cared about those characters. I've spent something like a hundred hours of my life listening to Roy Dotrice tell me about them, and I'm not even half done with the series.
I did it.
Last night I finished pencilling and inking the last page. Or at least the fragments thereof.
See, the last couple pages didn't come together as smoothly as I would have liked, so using the magic of photoshop, I'm culling some panels from one page and moving them to another, then inserting some new panels in other places. It's interesting, almost like comics by way of fridge poetry.
Painting and cleanup and lettering should happen tonight and this weekend, as should the final push to get the promo comic out.
Unless something goes horribly awry (knock wood) I should make my deadline of May 7th. Woo.
On Tuesday, it was 72 degrees. I left my jacket at home and wore my sunglasses.
Today, we're working on accumulating our third inch of snow. It's below freezing, and the pansies and daffodils are getting buried.
Yes, M!ch!gan, the feeling *is* forever.
