Lea Hernandez is rebooting Rumble Girls -- and she needs your help to do it. She's testing the "Long Tail"/1000 True Fans theory -- wherein you get together enough True Fans who each pledge a few bucks, thereby enabling you to work as an artist without having a dayjob. If you've got it to spare, go throw some cash her way. You won't be sorry.
If you don't know why this makes me happy, then you should go check out her online portfolio. Rock on, Lea!
Thanks, Janer! You rock much, yourself!
hi Jane, -- - Phil here. -- -- I'm the guy who was at the 1st Snap-fest,where u so graciously stopped me from pacing a cavern in the floor and offered me a free comic and poster! If that does not bring back any fond memories, well, u were also kind enough 2 put me on your fan art page (thanx a heap 4 that by the way) Anyway, I'm the one that u have marked as a fan I met at GreenBrain. -- It has been my intention 2 write 2 u 4 some time now. It always seemed that something was precluding me from doing so. So while time has presented itself 2 me now, I once just wanted 2 thank u 4 everything:[the freebies, the shout out on your art page, the signings and sketch inserts of your 1st two graphic novels and most importantly, the time that u were able 2 share with me, talking about Vogelein, art in general and whatever else that came up that day!! There are few things in this world that are more priceless than talking 2 someone who is passionate about what they're doing! Thany U 4 sharing that with me!!! -- Finally, cool link 2(uh-oh,Ive scrollrd up and I see that I'm on the wrong page)
I'll comment on the rumble girls later perhaps. Anyway I'll leave u with, I know that u are on something of a soul searching mision. Reflection and introspection are probably things most of us carbon based life-forms should take part in. My wish 4 u is while u embark toward the destination u seek within yourself, remember, its not usually about the destination but... about the journey. I hope that you're not weighed down by the weight that u put on your shoulders We should all strive 2 be better and 2 leave this place, better than we found it, but none of us are perect. -- - Phil
Phil Again; Mere words can not do justice to express how foolish thatI feel 4 posting the prior comment in the wrong comment box. My apologies a 1000 fold, times 10 2 u,Jane and 2 Ms. Hernandez!!! As 4 the topic at hand; I became aware of Ms.Hernandez from reading Wizard--I beleive it was Wizard, anyway. Later that month or so,I was in GreenBrainComics, where I saw that they were taking up a collection 4 her 2 help her thru her ordeal. After having 2 leave a dweling of mine abruptly, tho',not quite as savagely as a fire,I could definitely empahise with this artists' plight. With regard 2 your request,Jane, as soon as I'm situated financially,u can count me in. All I need 2 know is the where and is a money order OK? And if I'm still allwowed on your site I'll try 2 eliminate the "major" blunders. Finally good luck 2u both with any and all future projects!!
Hello twice, Phil! Thanks so much for dropping in to say hello. I certainly do remember you, and I also owe you an apology for taking over a year to get your fanart up on my site. I spend all day making websites for other people so I am often very lax at updating my own. It was really sweet to hear from you, and thanks for the blessings on my journey. Going to need them.
As for Lea, you can just head on over to her web site: http://divalea.livejournal.com and ask her if a money order's okay. I know she takes Paypal donations primarily, but I doubt she'd turn down anybody who was willing to help out. She's good folks, our Lea, and deserves your support, so thanks for being willing to throw in.
Hope to see you around soon! I'll be walking around at Motor City, though I won't have a table. I'll keep an eye out for you!
