Summertime food day

I went a little nuts at the farmer's market today, and then came home and cooked about ten things in a row: Sourdough bread, simple syrup with lime juice for mojitos, sugared almonds for a salad, tart-cherry syrup for topping vanilla icecream (I'm bringing these four items to a Sunday potluck dinner tomorrow), blackberry and tart-cherry jam; pesto from my exploding basil plants, and kale chips. I was going to try to make sauerkraut, but I'm whipped now, so I'll save that for another evening.

Tonight is Bluesfest downtown, so I"m looking forward to some yummy pulled-pork sandwiches, cold beer, and good music.
