Vogelein PDFs now available!

I took the plunge this week and made PDF copies of the Vögelein books available on Scribd. To get the ball rolling, from now through the new year you can get them for only $7.99 each — so if you’ve ever wanted eBook versions, now’s your chance!

Clockwork Game Kickstarter: FULLY FUNDED!

The Clockwork Game Kickstarter has been fully funded, and at a higher level than I ever could have dreamed — at 242%! Thank you all, so much, for your generous support and belief in me as a creator.

Three stretch goals were achieved, and a fourth is possible provided that there aren’t too many dropped backers. I’m going to be hard at work in the next few days to get the files out to the printer.

Thanks again to everyone who backed this project! I’m really excited to get the printing process underway.

Clockwork Game Kickstarter: Final Hours!

We’re down to the last four hours of the Kickstarter — and we’re so close to the fourth stretch goal! Thanks to everyone who’s already backed the project — I can’t wait to get the ball rolling on the printing.

Clockwork Game Kickstarter: Third Stretch Goal Achieved!

We’ve hit the third stretch goal and are within striking distance of the fourth, and at the time of this writing, there’s only 40 hours remaining. I am so blessed to have so many generous fans!

Remember, if you are interested in a hardcover, this is your last chance to order! They’re too expensive for me to make many extras — this will be an extremely limited run, the only one of its kind. Prices on the PDF are also likely to increase once I have to share profits with another company, so get yours soon!

Clockwork Game Kickstarter: FINAL DAYS!

Since the last time I posted, the Clockwork Game Kickstarter has flown past its second stretch goal — which means that thanks to my (very) generous readers, I’m able to keep increasing the quality of the books! Now every printed book gets a paper upgrade, from 60-pound to 70-pound paper, which will make the books feel more substantial.

We’ve also crossed the $10,000 mark, and are rapidly closing in on the next stretch goal! There’s only five days left, so if you’re considering backing, please do soon! The deluxe hardcovers will never be made again, and a the good pages of original art are going fast!

Two fine vendors at TeslaCon

Hey, are you in Wisconsin? Are you into Steampunk? Are you going to TeslaCon?

My buddy Jeff Berndt and his friends have a new Steampunk-themed candy-selling venture called Sweet Steam. They’ll be selling their chocolatey wares at TeslaCon this weekend, as will my other buddy Rollande Krandall with her Singing Lemur Jewelry.

If you’re in the area, you should check them out!

Paul Sizer and Thomas Dolby

Paul will be sharing the stage with Thomas Dolby this weekend at The Magic Bag in Ferndale this Sunday. If you’ve got the time and are in the area, please consider coming out to see him! The show’s going to be amazing, and includes a live sound effects artist.

Check out the trailer for the North American Tour to get a taste of what the show will be like:

First Stretch Goal Achieved!

The Clockwork Game Kickstarter just passed its first stretch goal! This means that all the trade paperbacks will get a cover upgrade — thicker stock, and a shiny spot gloss treatment on the red band at the bottom, and the hardcovers will now have a ribbon bookmark sewn in.

I’m so excited! I love making beautiful books, and thanks to all of your generosity, I can!

Over 100% funded!

Fantastic news! The Clockwork Game Kickstarter is over 100% funded!

Since I still have 23 days to go, I’ve got some great stretch goals:

IF WE HIT $7500:
The trade paperbacks will get a substantial cover upgrade, moving from 10-pt to 12-pt stock, and will now sport a shiny spot gloss treatment on part of the cover. It’s going to look really beautiful.

The deluxe hardcovers will each have a ribbon bookmark sewn in.

IF WE HIT $9000:
Both the trade paperbacks and the hardcovers will get an interior paper upgrade, moving from 60-pound paper to 70-pound paper. This will make the books heavier and more substantial.

IF WE HIT $11000:
I will be able to increase the print run from 1000 copies to 1500, (or possibly even 2000, depending on how early we hit the goal) and to celebrate, I will sign and personalize (“For Vyasar!”) every single print copy, even the Vögelein books in the Fiery Studios Library packages. Please note that this will cause a slight delay in fulfillment due to the extra time I’ll need to personally invest on each book prior to shipping.

IF WE HIT $13000:
The trade paperbacks will receive printed endpapers on both the inside cover and the first and last pages. The deluxe hardcovers will get a metal die custom-made just for them, and will have the die stamped in gold foil on their front cover.

IF WE HIT $15000:
I have plans for this level, but they’re still in the works. I will let you know as soon as I know if they’re possible, or if I”ll need to go with the backup plans, which should also be pretty cool.

Thank you all, again and again, for your generous pledges. I am so looking forward to making this book a reality!

Final Clockwork Game post

Thanks for reading, everyone. It’s meant so much to know so many folks were pulling for me to finish this story. The final Signal Boost of the Week goes to all of you. Thank you, every last one of you.

As I mention over on the site itself:

Work is progressing well on the print edition: the InDesign file is complete and is out with my editors, the foreword is being written by the award-winning Nisi Shawl, and with luck, I should have a Kickstarter up soon. I have an estimate from my printer, have spoken with my Diamond rep, and my hope is to have physical copies in hand by Christmas.

If you’d like to be notified of the Kickstarter, Clockwork Game‘s appearance in PREVIEWS and of any upcoming convention appearances I might make next year, please sign up for the Clockwork Game Newsletter. I won’t share your email with anyone, and won’t send you more than about three updates a year.

Thanks again for being such great readers, and for all your support over the years.

Clockwork Game Update: 09/05/13

The penultimate page.

The Signal Boost of the Week goes to The Tamale Guy here in Kalamazoo!

Andrew has been selling his fantastic tamales at Bank St. Farmer’s Market for a couple of years, and is now taking the plunge and opening a retail store and catering business in the old Fuel restaurant on Burdick and Alcott. Check him out! His mango salsa is the best — I just ate a whole cup of it in one sitting!

Clockwork Game Update: 8/29/13

Two pages left.

The Signal Boost of the Week goes to T.S. Lamb, who recently illustrated four (!) books from Pie Plate Publishing! Her three newest titles are educational books about Paganism for young children: What is Magic?, What are the Elements?, and Who is a Witch? Congratulations, Tiff! Way to go!

Clockwork Game Update: 8/22/13

Clockwork Game Update: 8/1/13

The Signal Boost of the Week goes to the olllam, a new Irish music group consisting of Michigan natives Tyler Duncan and Mike Shimmin, along with trad superstar John McSherry. Their debut album is garnering rave reviews, and they’re planning a tour of the United States this fall after some highly successful dates in Ireland. The album’s amazing — I picked it up at Elderly Instruments earlier this year, and it’s in constant rotation in my car. Have a listen!
