When I was a kid, I really really liked Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. A lot. A lot lot.

So when I had the opportunity to paint a Gryphonrider, I imagined he wouldn't look much different.

The model for this painting was dear friend E. Conway Braun. Though the graphic's too small to show all the tiny details, painted on Eric's jacket are Air Force pilot's wings, an EMU Hurons Forever badge, and the symbol for the Klingon Empire (couldn't resist).

It is also to be noted that your man Eric is amongst the Directionally Impaired, so he's actually asking his Gryphon for help with the map.
